Having Mahar Homes build our new home was a pleasant and stress-free experience from beginning to end.
First, we met with Michael Mahar as he helped us come up with an overall vision and style for our home, and helped us select a home site that met the needs that we had for the house and yard.

Next, talent and experienced architect, Jeff Mayfield, asked us about our lifestyle, needs, wants and desires, and he designed a floor plan that flows seamlessly from one room to the next. He took the spaces that we asked for and made them all fit into a perfectly, custom-made space, designed specifically for our family. Jeff also added many unique design elements to make our house look and feel just like we wanted. Jeff had lots of good suggestions and we benefitted from his extensive experience in designing homes. There is not anything that he did not know. He is truly a skilled professional. Now that we’ve lived in the space for a while, we know that he truly captured what we were looking for as far as how we live and function in the space. The house is easy to keep clean and organized thanks to many of the organizational features that Jeff built into our home. That has been a real plus!
A major part of the ease in building was due to Designer, Gina Heckley. There are so many choices to make, but Gina worked with us every step of the way to help us select everything from crown molding and paint colors to stone accents and light bulbs. The process would have been very overwhelming without her help, but she made it easy and painless. Gina has the unique ability to give expert advice and feedback without overstepping bounds or making the space “her vision.” She knew what our vision was and helped us make the space our own.
Another element to the building process that really made the building process a positive experience, was working with Project Manager, Todd Krug. Friends of ours had told us Todd was great to work with, and that is exactly what we found. Todd is extremely detailed and didn’t miss a thing. You got the feeling that there was nothing new to him…kind of like he had so much experience that he knew exactly what to do when a new challenge arose. He made great suggestions, offered good solutions and kept the whole project right on track. He gave us a detailed construction timeline so we knew months in advance when the house was being painted, when the appliances were going in and what day the light fixtures would light up the space. That was really helpful information to have. He was really good at keeping the project moving with minimal delays and was very good at communicating with us. We never worried about a thing just knowing that he had it covered.
Our positive experience with Mahar Homes did not end when we moved in. Brad Cook has followed up with us on several occasions to make sure all of our appliances are working correctly, the timers on the landscaping are set to water the yard efficiently, and to make sure that we are pleased in general. It’s been nice to know that the service did not end the day that we closed on the house, but that any concerns that we had after the fact, have been taken care of in a timely manner.
We absolutely love living in our new home. The quality of the home has really impressed us. The house is very quiet and the neighborhood peaceful. Living in the new space works just as Architect, Jeff Mayfield, said it would. We have hosted dozens of parties and gatherings from small and intimate occasions to large parties and celebrations and the space works wonderfully inside and out for any size party. It truly is a home that we are building wonderful memories in and is a blessing to be able to share with friends and family.
